What are the registration fees?
Registration fees are $50/child for the 4 year old, Under 7 and Under 8
Clinic programs and $70/child for the Under 9 through Under 15 programs.
After May 31st, (space permitting), an additional late
registration fee of $20 applies.
What is the age group cut-off date?
The
cut-off date is July 31st. When you register your child, he/she
is placed in the appropriate age group based on their age on July 31st
of the current year. For example, if your child is 9 on July 31st
of 2009, then he/she would play in the Under 10 age group. Children must
play in their age group. Playing down is strictly prohibited. Playing up
is not encouraged, but may be allowed under certain circumstances. Bottom
line, kids should play with other kids in their age group.
Do I need a separate registration form and check for each
child?
Yes, you
need to fill out a separate registration form for each child you register in
the program. However, if you register them all at the same time, you should
be able to write one check for the total amount.

What if I miss registration, how do I register my child?

Before May 31st,
download and print a registration form, fill it out and mail along with a
check to HFG Rec Council to address below.

Between June 1st and July 4th,
download and print a registration form, complete and mail it along with a
check covering appropriate registration fees plus the $20 late fee
made payable to HFG Rec Council. Mail form and check to address below.

web page) to verify that space is still available and for further
instructions.
What does the registration fee cover?
All
children playing in the recreation league will receive an uniform (soccer
shirt, shorts and socks) and year end trophy. The fees also cover HFG
equipment needs, field maintenance, league fees and referee fees.

What else will my child need to play soccer?
Parents
must provide their children with soccer cleats, soccer shin pads, and soccer
ball. Most local sporting goods stores provide packaged deals for these
three items.
What size soccer ball should I purchase for my child?
· #3 Ball – 4 year old clinic & 5/6 year old clinic programs
· #4 Ball – U8, U9, U10, & U11 age Group
· #5 Ball – U13, U15, U18 age groups

Can my child be placed on the same team as a friend?
Our goal is to balance all teams which means we cannot honor
“play with” requests.

is to balance all teams which means we cannot honor requests to play for a
specific coach.
When does the season start?
Teams are
organized during the 2nd half of July and coaches usually begin
practice in early August. The start of practice does vary by coach.

How long does the season run?
Practices
generally start in early August with HFG Soccer’s Opening Day scheduled for
Saturday, August 22th. The fall game schedule will start
Saturday, August 29th and run through November 7th.

How often will my child’s coach hold practice?
Most
coaches for the recreation league practice approximately once during the
week for about an hour & a half.
When are practices held?
Practices
are usually held on week nights after 5PM. Before the season starts, there
may also be weekend practices.
Where will practices be held?

The 4 year old clinic will practice at Fountain Green
Elementary.

The U07 clinic will practice at Cedar Lane.
·
The U08 teams will practice at either Hickory Park or Cedar
Lane.
·
The U09 – U11 teams will practice at either Hickory Park or
Hickory Elementary.
·
The U13 and up teams will practice at Hickory Park or C.

Where will games be held?
·
The 4 year old clinic will play at Fountain Green Elementary.

The U07 clinic will play at Cedar Lane.
·
The U08 teams will play home games at Hickory Park and away
games at other Harford County area Recreation Council’s home fields.

The U09 – U11 teams will play home games at either Hickory
Park or Hickory Elementary and away games at other Harford County area
Recreation Council’s home fields.

The U13 and up teams will play home games at Hickory Park and
away games at other Harford County area Recreation Council’s home fields.
When are the games played?
Most
recreation league games are Saturdays between 8AM and 4PM. Some weeknight
games may be scheduled.

Will there be any year end tournaments?
Yes,
there will be a Northern Harford Parks and Recreation tournament for the U9
and up teams scheduled for November 7th and 8th with
rainout dates scheduled for November 14th and 15th.
Exact tournament locations for each age group have not been determined at
this time.
Does Hickory-Fountain Green have a travel soccer program?
Yes,
our Lazers Soccer Club has teams in most age groups.
How does my child get placed on a Lazers Soccer Club travel team?
They
have to attend tryouts and demonstrate exceptional desire, coach ability and
skills to make a team. The Lazers Soccer Club Tryout Committee makes final
selection. Children that do not make a Lazers Soccer Club team will be
place on a Hickory-Fountain Green recreation team.
When are tryouts held for the Lazers Soccer Club?
Tryouts
begin June 1st as governed by the Harford County Parks and Rec Department.
The Lazers Soccer Club will hold annual tryouts for all teams. Additional
information related to out tryout schedules will be posted on the Lazers
website:

If
my child makes a Lazers Soccer Club team,
does he/she have to play recreation soccer for HFG?
No, but
your child must register for HFG Rec Soccer during the normal registration
times in order to tryout for the Lazers Soccer Club. If they make a Lazers
Soccer Club team and are not playing HFG Rec Soccer, then a portion of their
registration fee is moved to the appropriate travel team budget.
Is there a difference between Rec Soccer and Travel Soccer?
Yes, travel soccer requires a larger financial and time
commitment.
How much will it cost for my child to play travel soccer?
Travel soccer has
incremental expenses that vary by team depending on the travel
league, number of tournaments during the season and uniform needs. Some
teams have acquired team sponsors to reduce everyone's commitment
